Early Intervention

Early Intervention (ages 18 month-3 years)

YES! Early Intervention (IL) now covers ABA

We provide treatment to children in Early Intervention who may soon be or are already diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our Behavior Analyst aides in addressing behaviors which are interfering with treatment from other providers such as Speech Therapists, Developmental Therapists, etc.

Yes, it’s true. Selma Martinez is 1 of 20 fully-credentialed IL State Approved Early Intervention BCBA Providers.

Illinois’ Early Intervention program’s mission is to assure that families who have infants and toddlers, birth to three, with diagnosed disabilities, developmental delays or substantial risk of significant delays receive resources and supports that assist them in maximizing their child’s development, while respecting the diversity of families and communities. Early Intervention

How come?

Because getting a BCBA does not mean the certificate has had any formal education in early childhood development.

With a Masters in Early Childhood Special Ed, Ms. Martinez has met the experience and education required to provide treatment to children through the IL State Early Intervention program.

You can search for credentialed BCBA’s in Early Intervention here. Search “Specialty.” BCBA is listed last.

A number of studies indicate that, when implemented intensively (more than 20 hours per week) and early in life (beginning prior to the age of 4 years), ABA may produce large gains in development and reductions in the need for special services (Reichow, 2012); however, large studies with strong experimental designs are needed to confirm the results reported for intensive, early intervention.
